Another mystery iris - this one more recent & one that I am going to
daub some pollen on, so would like to get ID'd one of these days. It
came from the lady who has been buying mostly from Schreiners for 30+
yrs, so is probably one they have stocked, but not necessarily.
The form, color, and description is a close match to AT SUNDOWN
(Schreiner 1979) ML to L, 37", 'A unique new blend iris whose fluted and
ruffled petals present a luminous blending of sunburst gold, rose, and
copper-brwon from which emerges a blaze of rich golden tones in the
center of each fall. This dazzler has excellent growing qualities,
hardiness to match its beauty, and rigidly branched stems with 8 to 9
buds per stem. Truly a remarkable blending of amber russet hues".
It has been a somewhat slowly increasing, but heavily blooming iris here
& matches the photo in the 1980 catalog al the way down to the dark
streaks on the falls on either side of the beard. The one here has a
slight pinkish cast, especially in the standards, that isn't captured in
the photo.
Are there other TBs that look a lot like this one? It reminds me a bit
of Fancy Brass, which doesn't do nearly as well here.

more storms coming - this weather isn't helping me daub pollen
