Re: TB: 'mart irises

From: "Mark A. Cook" <billc@atlantic.net>

I wonder if one or more of the major Iris growers would consider
contracting with the -mart stores and selling [wholesale] to them
properly named plants.
There is a large Daylily Wholesaler in Eustis, Florida who does
this. The outfit is Jon's Daylilies. They sell properly named plants
[older but mostly good varieties] to small local garden centers, and to
Wal-Mart, as well as other stores. Jon's Daylilies supplies outlets
outside of Florida as well, since I have heard of these plants turning
up in North Carolina.
I wonder if the same thing could be done with Irises? This may be
possible if done on a regional basis. This would not have to be limited
to TB Irises, but should certainly include them, except in areas not
suitable for them.
This would be a good way to get the plants available to the public,
and reduce the number of misnamed plants in commerce.
