Hello, talkers.
Just got home about forty-five minutes ago after helping "tear down" our
show. In spite of an early season which left several members' gardens well
past peak, we had 201 entries from 21 exhibitors. Results:
Queen of Show - Screen Play, TB, exhibited by Sandra Rawlings
1st Runner up - Crystal Ruffles, MTB, exhibited by Sandra Rawlings
2nd Runner up - Conjuration, TB (all horns present on all three
blooms), exhibited
by Curt and Rita McKinley
3rd Runner up - Orange Jubilee, TB, exhibited by Hugh and Mary
Thurman
4th Runner up - Direct Flight, TB, exhibited by August Vollmer
Sandra Rawlings is from north of Cincinnati, Ohio, and her season is behind
ours by several days. Her entries were nice and fresh with the first
terminal bloom still there, unlike many of our local members' entries.
We had a nice entry of Siberians this year. Dean and I took a stalk of Over
in Gloryland that finished as 5th runner up -- no prize, but a nice surprise
to us. We just took the few things that weren't totally gone. We could
scrounge up only three TBs, but took several Siberians, I. graminea,
I.versicolor, and I. tectorum. It is nice to have some things to show the
public that we usually don't have entered.
Now I must put myself to bed. It has been a long time since 6:00 a.m.
'Night all,
Judy Hunt in Louisville, Kentucky
