A friend writes to tell me I've gone wandering in the various vowels of the
iris name PFAUENAUGE and transposed some hither and yon in my post. Now, I
must say this would not be the first time I'd done that with that name, which
defeats my vestigial German, and activates my astigmatism bigtime.
Perhaps one reason that there has not been more resistance to Edinger's
theory of usurpation--and there is generally resistance to any theory in
irisdom-----is people were glad to see the back of the word, however lovely
the meaning. Just a theory...
In any case, kindly note the right spelling: P-F-A-U-E-N-A-U-G-E.
Moving off now to empty the little silent butler I keep handy for just these
occasions......
