Re: TB & MED: bloom report

Shauna,

We're just about to hit peak TB bloom and the show is two weeks away!
IMMORTALITY is also finished its spring bloom. We still have SDBs blooming
(RUBY ERUPTION is putting on a long show) and a last bud of HEY THERE
(longest blooming MDB that I've seen). You'll also be happy to know that
CRANAPPLE is looking great and makes a massive clump quickly (a piece will
be sent to you mid-July).

The thunderstorm has battered CLARENCE and a few others to the ground.
WILLOWARE seems to be the only median in my garden that won't tolerate this
abuse. But the rain is welcome and better now than later this week as we
have a garden open house on Sunday for the hort society. There should be
lots of TBs in bloom, possibly even INDY.

The few clumps of iris that we brought to the hort society auction brought
great prices -- most going for around $15 for 3 to 4 fan clumps of older
varieties like PATINA, BEAUX ARTS and INTERPOL. We've found that if we
bring a clump with a blooming spike, it generates a lot of interest. We're
slowly building up interest in iris in the hort society. Even non-blooming
clumps of unnamed SDBs went for good prices.

And for the species fans, we brought a clump of I. tectorum with more than
half a dozen bloom stalks -- it went for $22. We'll have to do something
about siberians though. The unnamed huge clumps of siberians went for under
$5 -- what a steal!
