TB: Luxor Gold
From: Bill Shear <BILLS@hsc.edu>
Last year I received 'Luxor Gold' as a bonus from Schreiners'. Ordinarily,
I am skeptical of irises introduced solely as bonus plants, but I must
admit that this variety is a star. Huge, really huge, flowers in a
glowing, deep, pure yellow, with 4-day substance on heavily branched 42"
stalks, and vigorous increase.
Too bad it's not listed in the current catalog.
With the cool weather lately, we still have some decent TB bloom--in fact,
'Goodbye Heart' just started opening this week. This is the
latest-extending season I remember. Siberians are now on the way down
(though my little Chinese clone of sanguinea has just started), and
Louisianas and Spurias are starting up. Buds are emerging from sheath in
the Japanese.
