Spring has finally arrived in Zone 3 in northern Montana! I'm happy to say
that two of my siberians are blooming. The first bloom on Flight of
Butterflies opened today. It is so petite and will have about 20
bloomstalks. Another clump of siberians with about fifty bloomstocks has
been blooming for about a week. It is perhaps Tycoon or Orville Fay. I'm
hoping to get some information from the list so I can identify it, or is it
easier to describe it? Two other sibs are in big black plastic containers
due to a fencing project in progress. They actually are doing better than
they did in the ground! It will be interesting to see if they bloom.
Ellen, where are you at as far as bloom for your sibs in Zone 3? (Both
blooming clumps are in a foundation planting on the south.)
Next week I hope to attend the garden tour of the iris society in Montana's
biggest town where listers Janet and Shan reside.

where the tulips, basket of gold allysum, and creeping phlox are ending
their bloom and the iris are at their prime as well as pink gas plant.
It's 84 today which hastened the demise of the tulips.
