My name is Diane Buchanan I live in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. I was raised in
Michigan and have always loved irises, however when I moved to Fl. I found
out I had To give up the idea of having them here. About 5 years ago I came
across the LA iris in a magazine artical. I think it may have been Better
Homes and Garden magazine. I finally found some about 6 months ago at a local
garden store. After planting one on a trial bases, I was disappointed when
it started to turn brown and seemed to die. two months later it suddenly came
back to life and tripled in size. It had such nice blooms that I went out
and bought three more. The three new plants are now turning brown and
looking as though they are going to die. I will hope that if they come back
as the first plant did. Does anyone have any suggestions what might be going
on with these plants. Ther are no bugs, no black or white spots. Just
browning of the leaves. I have added to my soil compost, peat moss, and
manure.
Mark I was in Dunnellon a few years ago to judge a firematics competion.
If you have any information on the LA iris in Florida I would appreciate any
help you can give me.
