I hale from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I listed it as a zone 3
because it CAN get to 30-40 below here for days at a time, used to be
weeks at a time. We have had lovely winters tho the last four or
five and going by that maybe a z5a. I do grow several z6 with
protection but by and large z6 plants do not do live through the
winters. I treat my butterfly bushes as an annual.
Today it is raining and 53, highly unusual - should be snow, if I did
not know better I would swear I lived on the west coast, although
last week it was down to 12. The greenhouse effect???
We do have salamanders cute little 6 inch puppies usually dark
colored with spots -different colors of spots on different ones. Last
year was a prolific year around my pond for the little guys hence
mudpuppy.
