Charles,

I'm located between Abilene and Fort Worth - about 50 miles east of Abilene,
100 west of Ft Worth. That's a long way from El Paso, but you can never
tell how far an iris might travel either. I didn't make the trade either.
The grasshoppers were so bad I was afraid I'd have very little to trade. In
addition, the lady's husband has terminal cancer and there are a lot of bad
days at her house. At times it seems the Hospice folks have moved in with
them. That's good as far it goes. I still plan to do it next year.
That's an extraordinary move from Merrick, NY to El Paso, TX. I wonder how
the irises withstood the climate change. El Paso is nearly desert
conditions. The climate is harsh much of the year. Did Gltuzbeck hybridize
in NY? If I make the trade, I'll see if there's a chance of identifying it.
I'm not too hopeful. It's awfully hard to I.D. one and be certain.
