Re: HYB: Vigorous seedlings

Sterling, not to dash cold water on your hopes, but I've seen this kind
of rapid increase in some seedlings of IMMORTALITY. Two seedlings from
IMM X org sdlng: (GOLDEN APPLE x CRYSTAL GLITTERS) were very vigorous
babies, had lots of increase, were plenty big enough to bloom last
spring, but didn't, and have increased to clumps so big they look like
they need dividing this fall, but no sign of rebloom.

I saw similar growth habits on all of the IMMORTALITY X C SONG seedlings
- out of 40(?) initially surviving seedlings, only two turned out to be
(poor!!) rebloomers. Most of the others behave like IMMORTALITY and
FEEDBACK here - lots of healthy growth and increase, few stalks, skimpy
rebloom.

Same thing has been true of the big crop of HARVEST OF MEMORIES kids
with my unknown historic variegata. Huge clumps out there from seeds
germinated last year - only one bloomed in spring, no sign of rebloom.

<In my seedling patch I have noticed several very vigorous seedlings
from crosses involving reblooming parents. They germinated this spring
and already have several increases and look like small clumps. One of
the most vigorous has six increases. I am wondering if these are more
likely to rebloom than those that are not as vigorous. I think I am
going to tag them and watch them. Sterling Seattle, WA. USA Zone 8>
