I use a less detailed method of catching pollen. It works especially well
for those cvs that don't produce a lot of pollen.

I open the buds of a bloom that's within a day or two of opening and harvest
the anthers which then go immediately into a black film canister. I leave it
on the kitchen counter with the lid off out of direct sunlight to ripen.
This usually takes a day or so and works best if you can keep it from
getting too hot or too cold. If there's any pollen, it will show up clearly
against the black plastic.

An added benefit of using the canisters is that any extra pollen can be
frozen without much extra handling.
