Mary Lou -- There's nothing wrong with what you propose. It should get
you some pinks. It helps to use flowers that are already known to produce
pink seedlings. Saves time (years). For instance, if you cross ROMANTIC
MOOD with YVONNE BURT, you'll get some pinks. If you want a bit more modern
form, use later varieties that have these two in their backgrounds. Also,
look at the pedigrees of pinks that you like. Look for parents that keep
showing up. And talk to other hybridizers about what their experience is
with certain varieties (as above). I can't tell you about plicatas. They're
not my thing. -- Griff
