I believe that the original problem was that TBIS did not want to be an
affiliate as HIPS, PCIS, LA society etc are. They asked AIS for a rule change
which would allow them to be considered a seperate entity rather than an affiliate

of both and enjoy both.
Ok, as I remember it (with thanks to another individual who helped refresh my memory):
(Please remember I am not commenting on the rightness or wrongness of the positions of either society. I am just trying to be a fair witness <ok so which of you recognizes that reference?>)
TBIS indicated that they wanted to have 'Cooperating Society' status since they did not want to be a Section.
(Section members, at that time, had to be AIS members) because they wanted to have their membership open to non-AIS members.
For some time no official ('official' being the operative word here) request for status of any kind was rmade to AIS by TBIS.
Eventually, the 'official' contact was made. For good reasons that are too long to reiterate here, the AIS said "No" to
Cooperating Society status, but ***acted to change their bylaws to allow Sections to enroll
members that were not AIS members.****
TBIS still declined to request Section status and submitted a request for Cooperating Society status.
The AIS Board said no, that this was not acceptable and again invited the TBIS to become an
AIS Section.
The leaders of TBIS said this had to submitted to the TBIS Board. No reply has ever been received to this invitation.
That's the history without all the animosity the preceded and followed the above process.
You want to change the situation??? GET INVOLVED !!! Come to the board meetings of both the societies, write letters, talk to other members of the boards of each society.
