Re: AIS: TBIS & AIS

(I am on digest so this post might not be up-to-date)

Kitty - why would they? All the AIS conventions try to be held
in peak TB time(sometimes they make it and sometimes they miss
but they try) but no one could possibly say that Tall Bearded
Irises are not the main attraction at AIS conventions. This from
a grower of mainly Medians, Siberians and species but I have a
goodly number of TBs.

>>> I only think they would have a meeting or two in the hotel.
I think perhaps an event certificate on either side would do,
if even that is necessary. I would hope everyone would think in
a can-do attitude. If insurance is a concern, that shouldn't
take much effort to resolve. <<<

On the face of it, doesn't this sound ridiculous? Insurance
_can_ be an issue but certainly there are plenty of other
_issues_ that have not been talked about on this list that I
have heard about the past few years. I am a life member of AIS
but not a member of TBIS so I don't have a dog in this fight.
BUT - TBIS can easily be a section of AIS and be done with it.
Please do us a favor and do it. ;-)

However, if TBIS is _seen_ as being a rival to AIS (even if it
isn't and I don't think it is, btw) - nothing can be gained IMO
by trying to gloss over (or whatever) that AIS and TBIS don't
have substantive issues to discuss and even 'fight' over.

Does anyone on the AIS have the gumption (in place of another
word) to simply invite TBIS to hold a meeting with the AIS Board
and put this baby to rest for all of our sakes. I think that AIS
would welcome another section for TBIS.
