The downloadable files are tabbed text with 3 tabs set up like the online files. They should import easily into any database. Creating more individual fields is a different issue.

Char... I have not tried downloading the online R&Is. If I were to try it,
I would be using Windows 2000, although XP or 98 should also be ok. It's
not particularly the Operating system. I'd be using MS Access to import in
from a text file, either Access 2000 or Access 97. And it may depend on how
the text file looked. If it were 'clean' text, all the same format, it
should work pretty well. If it were a text file like a word processing
letter... with lots of inconsistent spaces... it could be a problem.
I've worked professionally with lots of imports and exports with MS
Access. There are other things that kind of irk me about Access... but it's
ability to import and export data are actually one of the better qualities
Access has.

Hi Kitty,
Have you tried downloading the years that are available? What would you
useas the OP sys to sort etc. I am having a lot of trouble searching thefilesthat John has and his help is not the best. I can search about 5 or six
names and then I must close down as I get the whole list, no matter what I
look for.

Is any inexpensive text recognition software available yet?Good idea. Once the scanned file becomes a text format, it is
I bought a scanner three years ago, never hooked it up. Maybe I will
start scanning R&Is as they come out & give it to people as rtf
files....
certainly feasible to import it into MS Access, where it can be sorted,
formated, and printed to the heart's content.
