Re: COMP: help - Region 7 website

Thanks again everybody. I hope all these little tidbits will also be
helpful/encouraging to others thinking about setting up websites.

Part of the reason I volunteered to take over our local website several
years ago was so I could get familiar with website "stuff" without
having to start from scratch. It's done in FrontPage (which I bought),
and as pointed out, FP isn't always compatible with the host ISP. For
our KORRnet server, it took separate ftp software to upload files. But
once the files were there, they worked fine.

I figure since Frontpage <is> Gatesware, that probably takes care of
concerns about the website being Explorer compatible <g>. I just meant
I was going to use Netscape (or Foxfire?) as my browser. I have a PC, so
am forced to have Explorer installed, just hardly ever use it for
anything online. I plan to get others to check for me to make sure it
works right with other browsers. Your typo gave me a chuckle, John -
yep, can hardly wait to get help from the online fools <g>

<This step is a non-issue if you use the ISPs online fools because they
do it "in place" for you.>

I hadn't considered the billing aspects of the website. Region 7
approved funds to pay for it, but as somebody who can't seem to keep up
with their own bill paying, for the sake of the region, I hope that is
something that would be between the Region 7 Treasurer and the ISP, and
wouldn't involve me in any way.

Several years ago, I started a draft version of the website for the
region in FrontPage, so could probably have it up and running fairly
quickly, but am a bit freaked about selecting an ISP, billing etc, &
won't jump into this until I get some other stuff out of the way. & get
used to the terror of it all <g>
