iris book
Good morning iris lovers - My favorite iris book is The Iris Book by Molly
Price probably because I stumbled across it when I was struggling to grow the
beautiful new cultivers of TB iris in this Texas hell hole and was unaware of
AIS or iris clubs or anyone who knew anything about growing anything other than
William Setchel with the exception of my mentor who could put a tinker toy
stick in the ground and it would multiply. This book is earmarked, underlined,
and broken backed. I have all the other books mentioned except for the new one
and have enjoyed them all but The Iris Book remains my favorite.
I have only one iris throwing up bloom stalks - Juan Valdez. I could find
nothing about its parentage in the 1990 check list except that it is a creation
of Bill Maryott. I have a whole bed devoted to supposed rebloomers where they
can get extra summer water and fertilizer. The most I can say for that bed
is that at least nothing is rotting.
