Hey Paul,
I just got registered to use IrisRegister and while
looking at pedigrees found another supportive "piece
for the puzzle."
OZARK SKY a zone 9 rebloomer from Ken Fisher traces
back to CONSUMMATION (it's "maternal grandfather")
which I had always assumed was the source of its
rebloom tendency. But interestingly, it also traces
back to mellita through SLIM JIM (it's "maternal
grandmother") whose ancestry is listed as... M106:
(Tid-Bit x High Jinks) X M39: red I. mellita plicata
hybrid.
The pod parent of MERIT, another Fisher rebloomer, is
a cross between OZARK SKY and a seedling of SLIM JIM.
So maybe there really is something to this theory --
of suaveolens [mellita] ancestry being involved with
reblooming tendencies.
Tom
