Re: Mellita in the ancestry of reblooming diploids


Good job!  It's hard to imagine the genes for any character just popping up like that after so many generation that weren't being selected for that.  But then we would need to consider all the introductions from I. mellita lineage that DON'T rebloom and see how many of those there are.

A small project someone could work on... and mabey do the same for the other species dicussed.

I'm starting to think based on our discussions that there might be a few species may be responsible for rebloom tendencies.  The new cultivars and hybrids just need more vigor and different climates to perform as such.

I know, I know, that just confuses the whole thing.  However, to quote someone who shall remain nameless at this time and needs no introduction.... "All options are on the table".  No retaliatory comment from the Gallery on that paleeze.
