Re: HYB:REB:Report

Most of my crosses are with rebloom as the eventual goal. This year was the first year that I got to cross my seedlings together in hopes of regaining rebloom and some improved form in the second generation. I expect the percentages that rebloom to be low, so I guess that just means that I will have to grow a lot of seedlings : )

Here's some of the crosses I did make using two rebloom parents (some only rebloom in very warm climates or are known carriers)

Every year in late April and May, this garden provides a blooming history of the work of two brothers, Hans and Jacob Sass. German immigrants, their families settled and farmed near Bennington, NE. They were leaders in the early days of modern iris hybridization. The two brothers earned four Dykes medals for their accomplishments. The Dykes Medal is an annual award recognizing the best iris cultivar.

The gardens also feature a Dykes bed where you can see award winners from the historic to the most modern.

the 04-28 seedling actually looks like a luminata, I think it may be a luminata plicata though, nice to get confirmation that Violet Miracle may have a glaciata or luminata gene in there.

 and Paul,

I too am glad to see that you have seed from Jenifer Rebecca. I intended to really try hard this spring, but got unlucky and the JR I had obtained bloomed and was not JR after all. Got some more, and found where I had moved the JR that I had seen bloom correctly. You will have to remember to posts shots of the seedlings when they bloom.

Hope that all of us get some rebloomers from our crosses!
