I think I missed something here--sometimes my iris talk gets sent to my bulk folder instead of my regular one for whatever reason and things get by me. I don't "talk" on line a lot but do want to say that the idea of black flounces sounds awesome!! It's something I never thought of, and I don't know enough to say anything helpful about it, but sound like something I would be interested in seeing!

Or, more likely in this particular case, there may not be anybody
reading your post who has anything helpful to say on the subject at the
moment.
I have thought several times lately that we are not quite as good as we used
to be about acknowledging people's contributions, or thanking those who have
who have taken their time and made an effort to speak to our concerns.
The sense that one is speaking into a void, or being ignored, is not
pleasant. Those of us who have been around a while get used to it, more or less, and
do not take it personally. Not being able to get a conversation going on a
matter that interests one ardently is another thing altogether, but that is
also to be expected from time to time.
As for the black flounces idea, Christian, I think that sounds deliciously
wicked, like Scarlett's widow's weeds, although I tend to prefer my dark irises
tailored and my pastels fluffy. I am into color and textures, you see, more
than formal elaboration, as such, although, like many here, I do have an
interest in flatties, and chimeras and such.
As to the bit you posted earlier about atypical branching and flatties, I
suspect the reason the sort of branching you were suggesting might be a viable
aesthetic alternative is not so favored is because many folks find it
inherently unstable and bone ugly. I do not think this is entirely a case of
groupthink, or lack of imagination.
Which brings us to another reason some folks may not respond: They simply
don't agree with you, but they also don't want to dampen your enthusiasms. We
become very protective of each other's fancies, and quirks, and unique visions
around here.
Cordially,
