Re: HYB:potential & day dreams

Betty, I would expect that to be a <very> strong cross! NG has always been very healthy and reliable here, plus stalk height has never been weather sensitive - assume that's excellent roots to cope with variable water supply plus erratic temperature (cold) tolerance. Its only faults here have been its stingy fertility either way here and buds mostly on the upper part of the stalk.

But you never really know how the 'strength' genes will combine until you try it.

Of your own kids, are there some (or some lines) that stand out as nearly always producing stronger kids than others (erratic cold tolerant)?

[That question isn't just for Betty]

I've been surprised at the variability of strength of grandkids from various IMM X CSONG kids here. Not enough to be sure of generalizations yet, but the two with the most offspring so far (IC1 - rebloom amoena, and IC26 late white, both very strong) seem quite different - many strong kids from IC1, few from I26.

Vanishing Act X Night Game has much healthier foliage than the seedlings from Vanishing Act X Romantic Evening. Less damage from the freezes.
