Speaking to foliage health and strength in particular, which of the
reblooming irises would you say are giving the best seedlings?

After a few years of talk on here, I gave in and made the Harvest of
Memories X Gratuity cross which I planted out in May. The notes on the reblooming
seedling from HOM X Fringe Benefits didn't hurt either. It is NOT a strong
cross. Quite possibly a dead end.

Even though I watered faithfully with the soaker hoses, I lost a large
number of new seedlings. Usually, only a few die and others have the failure to
grow and die eventually. This year, several died the first season. Maybe
this was Mother Natures way of telling me I'm pushing the envelope??

In the crosses with Vanishing Act, Romantic Evening was inferior to Night
Game as to plant health. One of the crosses that I planted ALL of the
seedlings was the Lunar Whitewash X Romantic Evening. There were fifty-six. This
cross and the HOM cross took the heaviest losses. Unlike the HOM seedlings,
the survivors in LW X RE seem quite healthy.
