Re: REF: amoena vs neglecta & bitone vs bicolor

Sounds good to me. Maybe AIS will publish or put on the web at least-
exactly the official definition that includes these sort of subtle
differences and back it up w a genuine list of iris for each category from
the pure form to the edges of the definition.

They may have already done that, and I just haven't found it yet.
I know in my research, I continue to expand my personal List when I see
something in print that says it's common pattern if it's been one of those I
think is on the borderline.

Linda,

I have seen color tones from "warm" white to very pale
yellow referred to as 'cream' or 'creme' (which is
entirely legitimate if you compare the color of cream
from Holstein cows' milk to that from Jersey or
Guernsey cows).

Personally, I would consider the term amoena still
appropriate if the "cream" involved was a "warm"
white, but that if the "cream" had a distinctly yellow
cast to it, then bicolor would be the preferred
designation (or variegata, if the companion color was
in the red/brown range).
