Hi
We've done it, we've finally moved in to our new place at Mt Pleasant.
We've had couple of weeks to do it. Spent 3 days just moving plants, and
that doesn't include all the Impressive Irises stock. We're fortunate
that we have been able to lease back the propagation areas at our old
place for 6 months, until the probable new owner of the business takes
over. I never realised just how much STUFF we have, a lot to do with the
business.
It's been 35oC plus everyday for the last days and about 40oC this
weekend before we get a bit of relief. I've got cut daylilies plants in
tubs of water, I've pots and pots of potted daylilies and irises. I've
also a very large number of bare-roted irises and a few daylilies. We've
also got a very large number of orders to dig, that will take til the
end of January to clear. Rest and retirement. Not Yet!!!!
Our new house is a lot smaller than our old place so lots of compacting
of personal space, although there will be some minor extensions and a
new 9x9m shed. We're also installing a 95,000 litre rainwater tank.
This new place has 4 smallish shadehouses. 2 for pots and two planted
with camellias and fuschias, but I've been able to place a lot of pots
in and around these.Very handy in this heat. I want to get my vege
garden up and running soon, have got some tomatoes and potatoes in.
However will have to fence an area before I can plant greens, as there
are resident rabbits. The soil here is wonderful, very light sandy loam
and about a ph of 5.
I think I will be able surface sometime about May.
