Re: REB: fall cycle vs other - climate data

I looked at temperature data, thanks.

It takes about three weeks from trigger to bloom in my climate. It should be
less then that in yours, with warmer
weather. During that time period, temperatues were not high enough to procuce
heat dormancy.

Think that would be long enough with all the high temperatures in between?

I think that it would take longer than just 4 weeks after the trigger,
with summer heat between July 17-27th and Aug 22.

?

Main bloom is over by early May - plants should have enough time to
mature before the end of June. Weren't you guessing 6 weeks? Early
bloomers have time to mature enough to repeat bloom in late May, if it's
cool and wet enough.

<That would have been too early to account for bloom on Aug 22. Likely
plants
not mature enough at that time to be triggered by that cool spell.

According to Knoxville weatehr in 2006, you also had the 6 days of temp
  inb
range 26-21 C on July 17-27th. This could could count for Summer rebloom
trigger.

<Chuck, re: 22 Aug 2006 bloom of STAR GATE.

Using the weather underground historic data for Knoxville TN, ~50 miles
north of here, there was a front that came thru our area, presumably
came thru this far south, last week of June, first few days of July,
that dropped nighttime low temperature into the mid-60s F.>

Temperatures were below average for most of July 2003 in Knoxville,
tying the record low of 57 on July 24. Also low most of June. Good year
for rebloom.

Chuck, I've looked up the lows for Knoxville airport from ~June 23 thru
Aug 2 if you want them.

July 8, 2003
<RENOWN is blooming. No sign of stalks on anything else here.>

July 11, 2003
<Just found a big stalk forming on VIOLET MUSIC.>

July 25, 2003
<VIOLET MUSIC is still blooming, struggling with the heat. One deformed
(missing standard, extra fall, twisted) bloom open on SUMMER WHITEWINGS,
but lots more buds to go plus two more stalks.

On the ridgetop in clay:
SIGN OF LEO (no pollen, drat) has a couple of stalks. IMMORTALITY has
at least one stalk just showing in the fan - probably will be quite a
few more.

Aug 4, 2003
<Stalks forming on VIOLET MIRACLE, VIOLET MUSIC .... INNOCENT STAR.
Blooms open on BELVI QUEEN, SUMMER WHITEWINGS, and IMMORTALITY.>

Aug 10, 2003
<All kinds of stalks up right now - several IMMORTALITY, TOTAL RECALL,
SUMMER GREENSHADOWS, BELVI QUEEN, TEA LEAVES, JULY SUNSHINE, GRAND
BAROQUE, and continuing bloom on VIOLET MIRACLE and INNOCENT STAR.>
