Dear All, I'm a young iris friend from Hungary, I've joind the list lately. I like beardless irises, spuria mainly, but open to all kind of irises, had a few reticulata hybrids. I have success with Iris W flavescens, this survives here in the clay in the stoloniferous grasses, the habitat is like the prairie in the US. I have bought some BB and 1 TB under the name Red Wine. Last year I managed to get a few more TBs but it wasn't a breaktrugh succes, the soil was wet, the rhizomes were small, i hope the survivals will bloom in 2011, i have seen the flower of Sky Hooks, i hope it will perform better this year. I would like to ask if you know the difference between Iris pallida 'Aureovariegata' & 'Argenteovariegata'. I have one kind of iris pallida with variegated leaves, it starts buttery yellow in spring and fades to white in june. I also would like to know if it is able to set seed, cause I haven't seen pods on it since forever (at least in the last 8 years). I also would like to ask how many years should i expect from sowing bearded iris seeds to flower, and if it needs any special treatment. Thank you in advance for your help!
