Janos: Welcome to the list. I an certain your pallida is aureomarginata which goes under the cultivar name of Zebra in the USA. Here is a link to a picture in my garden http://wiki.irises.org/bin/view/Main/WebHome?topic=TbZebra It is a thumbnail and will expand when you click on it. I also grow Argentea but I can not find a photo at the moment. Argentea is always white striped starting out like that in the spring. The link is a page to the Iris Encyclopedia on the American Iris Society website. I hope you may find this tool useful in the future. You can find Griff Crump in the hybridizer list of the Encyclopedia and view all of his introductions. They are very nice. ----- Original Message ----- From: "J. I like beardless irises, spuria mainly, but open to all kind of irises, had a few reticulata hybrids. I have success with Iris W flavescens, this survives here in the clay in the stoloniferous grasses, the habitat is like the prairie in the US. I have bought some BB and 1 TB under the name Red Wine. Last year I managed to get a few more TBs but it wasn't a breaktrugh succes, the soil was wet, the rhizomes were small, i hope the survivals will bloom in 2011, i have seen the flower of Sky Hooks, i hope it will perform better this year. I would like to ask if you know the difference between Iris pallida 'Aureovariegata' & 'Argenteovariegata'. I have one kind of iris pallida with variegated leaves, it starts buttery yellow in spring and fades to white in june. I also would like to know if it is able to set seed, cause I haven't seen pods on it since forever (at least in the last 8 years). I also would like to ask how many years should i expect from sowing bearded iris seeds to flower, and if it needs any special treatment. Thank you in advance for your help!
