Well sure they grow in zone 8. That's hardly any distance south of me and isn't a good bit of 'iris heaven' (west coast) zone 8?
I basically agree with what Paul says, especially after looking some more at the USDA zone maps. Phoenix looks like it's a solid zone 9, as is Los Angeles.
I took a glance at the 2012 rebloom checklist & there are reports of irises reblooming in zone 9 & 10.
Billionaire is reported as reblooming in zone 9 & 10 and in Florida, as are Blatant, Buckwheat, Iceland, Istanbul, Reincarnation, Tea Leaves, Winesap, & Winterland (any of you noticing a pattern here? ;-) )
Double Shot, in zone 9 in FloridaUnfortunately, no way to know if the zone 9 & 10 plus FL reports go together or not. I.e., they may be for zone 8 in Florida, zone 9 & 10 elsewhere.
Many many rebloomers reported for zone 9, but don't include FL in the list of states/countries. Maybe not tried? Byers was combining humidity tolerant eastern rebloomers with coastal things to improve form. I think.
In any case, zone 10 somewhere apparently provides enough chilling for these things to rebloom, so I assume they get enough vernalization in that zone.
