Linda, I tried to find these posts and couldn't. So is the hawaii50 person clearly saying they got these cultivars to bloom in HI? I personally am less interested in whether it is rebloom or not. Just interested in the genetic potential to bloom in hot/humid Z9/10 at all. And you are right, their elevation would be great to know, but looking at the USDA maps then Google Maps the small amount of Z9 there is looks to be uninhabited.
I hear Hawaii is much more moderate, as in not hot, less humid, than most folks think. Does the lack of intense heat/humidity have any bearing? Less stress, carbohydrate levels stay higher, etc, etc. No crown rot? Soft rot and leaf spot - if there is a host then there's probably not a spot on the earth those two haven't made it to. ?
Haven't found anything truly juicy in surfing for "iris bearded zone 9" (and variant) plus the various applicable SE states. Anecdotal stuff and asks/wishes about growing.
So what would be the deal with a cv like Immortality that is an everboomer? Does it require at least one annual vernalization?

Someone named hawaii50 on Gardenweb was going to try to grow some bearded iris rebloomers. Posted back in 2006. Maybe ask there? I'm not a gardenweb member, but thought I vaguely remembered someone wanting to experiment with growing bearded iris there. Not sure if this is the same person.Just found a follow up! 2008< I have only a few varieties of bearded iris, but by far the best grower is Pure As Gold, which blooms several times a year and also has a beautiful flower.>No idea what elevation this person is, so perhaps there are enough hours below 45oF to give the necessary chilling.I found another post by hawaii50 in 2007 that says:<Some reblooming bearded iris that I planted a few months ago have bloomed for me in Hawaii. These are Pure As Gold, Feedback, Clarence, and Olympic Return. Golden Immortal has bloomed twice. I hope that rebloomers don't have the genetic trigger requiring cold weather to bloom.>
