It does all that, but most of all keeps out the cats,dogs,SQUIRRELS,opossums
and
other varmints. I should also mention that i scrape out about 3" of dirt and
refill with
coarse builders sand. Great for drainage -and- direct planting of old
rhizomes of short-supply
varieties after dig for fast increase
