The Irisborer, soliciting information about seeds for a presentation, asked:
<< but it occurs to me that with all the folks on this list, there are
probably other techniques, and I'd like to hear them. This does not
include, BTW, "sticking the seed in the ground" ..... So, does anyone have
any tricks, techniques, special potting medium, special lighting, optimum
heat for germination, ANY information they'd like to pass along... >>
To which Anner, seed-crazed, replies:
Kathy,
I've grown a whole lot of the simpler stuff from seeds and will be happy to
share anything I know if will let us know which seeds you want to talk about.
I supplied Donald with information for the pamphlet he was writing, and I
will certainly help anyone else I can, as I am sure Donald will as well. I
posted a really long thing last winter on the subject but it isn't in the
Archives. I do have some information from SIGNA that could be posted.
Basically, I have done many different sibericae, tectorums, foetidissima of
two sorts, ensata, several spurias, lactea, many difernt setosas, fulva,
tridentata, prismaticas, versicolors, laevigata, virginica, subbiflora, and
probably others I've forgotten for the nonce. I myself use a modified Norm
Deno system and have excellent results. I am certain, however that there are
many, many, systems that work well.
