Kathy - I don't understand. There have been several posts over the last
2 years about the research that has been going on and results that have
been published about effective control (near 100% as I recall) of borer
by nematodes. What additional research do you want? Additional types
of control? More field trials? Something cheaper/easier? Do you not
believe the research results? What?
Or did I miss something over the summer that refuted the research?
One small commercial operation in Knoxville (zone 7a?) stopped growing
irises because of borer problems. So although they don't seem to be a
widespread problem in this general area (this far south), they can
become a show stopper (so to speak). I've never seen one, but I suspect
the biodiversity in my garden and surroundings plus the Texas to Canada,
California to Maine climate here (depending on the year) keeps 'em off
balance.
