I still am missing something - do you mean they don't interrupt the
life-cycle when they are applied? Or are they so expensive nobody can
afford to use them every year? Or so expensive nobody can afford to use
them at all?
I thought somebody from Canada (or maybe it was Ohio....:>) had used the
nematodes one year and then didn't have to apply them again in
subsequent years. Was that just because the site wasn't reinvaded by
borers? Did the nematodes not overwinter?
I still don't understand the limitations with nematodes other than
expense and technical difficulty in keeping them alive long enough to
get them where they need to be (which is certainly enough to keep me
from wanting to use them). Is that what you meant? That research is
needed to find a more a practical non-poison based control? Or that
research is needed to find a practical way to use the nematodes? Or
just more options?
