In answering my request for identification of the irises in their beautiful
picture, Heather and Bernard wrote:
"Many thanks for your kind and most welcome comments. . . . The soft pink
La. in the foreground is PAMELA CAMERON. The yellow in the basket with it
is FOR DAD. The purple ones in the background next to us is CAPTAIN GATES.
Don't know how many more you need descriptions for, but hope that these
details fill the gap."
Thanks for the information. I would also be interested in the identity of
the brown (?) iris to Bernard's immediate left.
I do understand that the posting of pictures would be problematic on any
scale, but I regret that we cannot readily exchange them through the list.
Yours certainly brightened my day.
Rules are rules, as you say. When I first signed up for the list, I
impulsively responded to a lengthy post without cutting and pasting the
relevant portion, and inflicted excessive redundancy upon totally innocent
fellow readers. I was embarrassed and no small bit irritated when this was
pointed out. Upon reflection, however, I found that I greatly appreciated
the hundreds of other readers who let it pass. The list guidelines, after
all, do include the following: "Be tolerant...even of those who do not
follow these guidelines. Often it's best to just let it be."
Of course, I did need to know the rule, even though my mistake was
immediately evident to me when I saw my own post. But it is a fine line
and delicate line to walk. Sometimes tiptoeing will do nicely.
I do appreciate and enjoy all of your postings, even though I rarely jump
in. You have put a great deal of effort into them, as I know everyone on
Iris-talk is well aware.
Patrick
