Dennis, you can plant those irises from the pots directly into the ground
even at this late date. Just water them well since it will be a while
before their roots extend out into the surrounding soil.
I would suspect they would not survive unprotected in your climate.
Cristata might be an exception--in nature it is shallow-rooted and probably
freezes entirely in much of its range. Anyway,don't take a chance--get
them into the ground.
