Aha, another chance to be pedantic! PUMICE is a soft volcanic rock.
POMACE is the leftovers from pressing out grape juice prior to making wine.
How do I know this? A good friend runs the local winery (Rose Bower
Vineyards and Winery) and for many years my reward for helping with the
harvest was bags and bags of pomace, consisting of grape skins and stems.
Composted, this made a good soil amendment.
However, be prepared for volunteer grape seedlings coming up for many years
afterwards.
