<BEGGING MODE ON>
Most of you know that Chris Lindsey at Mallorn.com runs the iris-talk (and
previously the Iris-L) archives at *no cost* to us. The archives are a
wonderful resource, and Chris has always been very responsive to problems I
have reported to him. In fact in most cases he did not know of the problem and
fixed it within minutes.
Of course iris-talk is not the only list he archives, and archiving is not the
only resource he sponsors on his web site. But the fact is that it costs him a
significant amount of money ($hundreds) out of his own pocket each month to
run his site and provide all those services. On top of all this he has just
volunteered to archive iris-photo messages *COMPLETE WITH IMAGES* (something
onelist does not include in the digests or archives).
Ok, so what is this all about. Well the answer is - There are some things we
can do to help Chris defray the cost of running the archives for us.
Specifically, by clicking on the advertising banner at the top of the archive
page, Chris gets $.20 in revenue. Its that simple. All you have to do is wait
for the advertising page to finish loading and that's it, click "Back" to
return to his archive page and continue on with your business. Even if you
don't want to search the archives, how about once a month or so just going
there and click on the banner. Just your way of saying thanks Chris for doing
the archives for us. Go ahead, go there now, click on the link below:
http://www.mallorn.com/lists/iris-talk/
and then click on the banner.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you want to buy a book through
Amazon.com, do it through the iris-talk archive site. That will really benefit
Chris. After all it is only one additional click. Buying books for Christmas presents???
I know, this is blatent advertising (actually I prefer to think of it as
begging), and I am abusing the privilege of being list owner, but what a way
to say thank you.
Cm'on, do it now, it will only take a moment. :>))
