We don't have to wait for the Electronic Checklist to do this, the software
is already available. I use mine mostly for my own breeding stock. For
example, I can not only run pedigree charts all the way back to species,
but I can also quickly find out what seedlings I have that are descended
from a specific cultivar. Although I HOPE that the Electronic Checklist
will be as versatile, I really expect to have to use the two in tandem.
Walter -- if you'll write to me off-list with a few examples you've found
of VIOLET MIRACLE's immediate offspring, I'll see what my database can add
to your list. In addition to R&I information on the ancestors of my own
seedlings, I've included quite a few rebloomers I was analyzing as
potential parents. VIOLET MIRACLE itself wasn't one I studied, but there's
a good chance I have extensive information on some of its descendants.
