I agree that Conjuration, Mesmerizer are great, and practically all of the
Sutton's things are quite stunning.

Wow, three opinions stated as if fact. Is that a record?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The AIS, much like the American government, is a democracy. As a judge, you
can vote or choose not to vote for the Dykes. If you do vote, and your iris
doesn't win, then at least you've participated in the process, which is more
than at least half if not 3/4 of AIS members. You may not like this year's
winner, but there's always next year, and guess what? Conjuration (one of
the "superior irises" you listed) won for this year.
As for moving on, I'd say that's something for the iris's detractors, not
fans, to do...
