Greetings again.

I've had someone ask me if this is not Laurus nobilis, otherwise known as bay,
and the answer is yes---and no. Sorry not to have anticipated the question.

The bush I'm asking about is also known colloquially here as Poet's Laurel and
it is an evergreen shrub with very glossy, pointed, curving and rather narrow
single leaves of a plastic-like texture and a medium green uniform tone.
Rather willow-like in some respects but not as narrow. Leaves about 4-6" long
at maturity. The stems and wood are the same color. The fruit is born singly
(as far as I know ) and it is terra cotta color, about the size of a regular
chewing gum ball or small marble, and quite firm and glossy. The fruit is on
the bush even as we speak. Don't know what the flower looks like but
apparently it is borne singly. This is a slow growing drought-tolerant bush
and I propose to propagate a slip off it if I can find out what the botanical
name is and do some further research. Elegant plant, suitable for a formal
garden or one featuring camellias or box or things of that ilk.

I'll take guesses or intuitions if anyone has one------> HIPSource@aol.com

Mercy buckets.

Anner
