Thought you were going to quit this business? :>) I tell you, that is a
congenital disease.
Taking a break from relocating half the plants in the yard, it seems. Have
been receiving nice response from the rooster crowd. Hope it struts its
feathers for them. Robt Turley, Lake Charles, was one. We had a short
discussion on irises in his part of the world. I'm trying to hook my
sister
and brother-in-law on those which will grow in the Houston area. He does
not like I. pseaudacorus. Considers it a foreign weed. Said it would do
really well in Houston.
Noticed in Shear's book that he referred to himself a Johnny Iris-seed re
spreading LAs around. Took them with him when going fishing and
left them planted at the water edges as well as giving them away. Glad
I didn't say as much on an Iris-talk post. Sure would have sounded as if
I was paraphrasing the book. Not a bad book. This would be the one to
start with for beginner irisarians. Basic, simple, accessible and non-
threatening. Later, tho, I think they would still want WOI.
Have to dig some I. unguicularis. Trading some of mine for some
crocosmia. We arranged it last winter. Will have to read up on croc.
Don't have any, never tried it before. Have tried to figure out he best
way to bundle up unguicularis for shipping. Mine was an aggravation
to get started and it would be nice if the plant didn't take so long to get
going.
Break's over.
Donald
