Iris pseudácorus  grows in middle and southern Sweden too and in some 
shallow lakes and bayouses it can be quite abundant but I have never heard 
anyone call it a pest. I once tried to move it from a lake to a stream in a 
garden but it did not like the change, it lived and bloomed  but did not 
spread. It has probably very special demands upon mud and water.
Unfortunately, it usually produces more foliage than flowers.
Does anyone know something about how to grow pseudacorus succesfully in a 
garden?
