hybridizer (cannot remember his name right now) was our bus captain and
we had quite an interesting discussion about how the color changes in
different areas of the country.........
the yellow and orange ones do great and their color is even more intense
here--- Carryl in western Montana zone 3/4
I seem to be having similar problems here (although one friend thought
my murky Thornbird was wonderful). Apart from weather differences
(frost, heat, etc.) What factors can effect the colours of Bearded iris?
I'm thinking along the lines of mineral deficiencies, or pH differences.
I find that irises will produce better (or worse) colour in different
parts of my garden, and, as much of the top soil is imported, there will
be variation in soil composition.
