HYB: 201 Homework

It's been some time since I've posted any homework for aspiring
hybridizers, but the recent discussion of VIOLET MIRACLE and crosses
between rebloomers & arilbreds poses some interesting possibilities. 

1.      Using the Ahnentafel I posted for VIOLET MIRACLE, which of its
ancestors strikes you as the most desirable for use with arilbreds on the
basis of its appearance alone?  Why?  HINT:  you need only consider named
cultivars.

2.      Once you've identified this key ancestor, list its descendants on
that same chart that you would also use with arilbreds -- and explain why. 
BONUS:  list others from collateral lines that aren't included on the
Ahnentafel.  

This is a real-life problem.  No cooked data.  Designed to make you think. 
As usual, if you want me to check your homework I ask that you send it to
me off-list.  Please DON'T spoil the fun for others by posting answers
here.   I'll post them later, when everyone has had time to ponder the
problem.

To newcomers....  This is not a formal course.  There's nothing you have to
do to "enroll".  It's just something that evolved on the old IRIS-L at a
time when there was a lot of discussion about hybridizing.  You care free
to tackle the problems completely on your own, or write to me off-list if
you want to be sure your answers are on the right track.   The "201
Homework" title just indicates the level of difficulty.   Problems labeled
"101" are intended for beginners, while "201" problems are a bit more
advanced.
