Hi Talk-ers,
It's raining siamese and poodles today......no letting up in sight. I am
wet from head to toe from cleaning up the garden but boy does it feel
good.
I pulled all the unopened seed pods from Viola sororia "Freckles" and
wanted to know if anyone would be interested in some.
Viola sororia "Freckles" is larger than most voilas. A mature plant will
mound to about a foot high with a spread of 2 feet. Leaves are about 5
inches across and are heart shaped with quilted texture veining. Flowers
are small and typically viola in appearance. White, peppered with purple
freckling. Seeds heavily (Natch!!!!!) and can be considered invasive if
you don't weed regularly. I keep my clumps under control by removing
seed pods on occasion. Also, cultivating lightly around the plant tends
to kill the germinated seedlings quickly. Comes back true from seed.
Though the flowers are rather unnoticeable, It is rather a gorgeous low
mounding plant that is relatively easy to control with regular light
cultivating.
Any takers can send me a SASE with at least 50 cents postage attached.
