Re: I. tectorum variegatum

From: tomd@fones.cals.lib.ar.us (Tom Dillard)

Hello Everyone:

I grow I. tectorum variegata. It was given to me by a friend in Virginia.

It IS I. tectorum, not I. japonica. And it does lose its variegation as
summer wears on. Right now mine looks like a regular I. tectorum, but in
the spring it will be nicely variegated.

One reason we are seeing I. japonica varietatum being sold as I. tectorum
is because Bluebird Nursery (one of the largest wholesale nurseries in the
country) is distributing it under that incorrect name. Local nursery
owners do not know the difference.

But, Anner, I can assure you I. tectorum variegata DOES exist!
