Way Cool!!! Meee Tooo!!! I just got Little Show Off and Stingray this
year. They are not reblooming but I have a stalk of Flower Child
blooming. The bud sat there forever (it's been about 40F for a couple of
weeks) but this Thanksgiving day, it decided to bloom. Flower Child is
registered as an SDB but is blooming on an MDB scale. That's alright
with me.........bloom IS bloom!!!!!
Flower Child looks much like one of it's parents Ditto, icy bluish white
with a red-violet spot on the falls. At the moment it is not showing
rebloom growth but it is showing increases. I can hardly wait to see a
raging clump in a couple of years!!!!!
I also have yet ANOTHER stalk of Reincarnation (RE SA TB) coming up.
Third one so far. Reincarnation is a wonderful rosy lavender self with a
bit of a blue flash in the falls, much like Rosette Wine. It also has
vibrant tangerine beards with big, formidable horns. Growth and health
is also excellent on this variety. The first stalk rebloomed just fine
in October with all the flowers opening wonderfully. The second got to
the bud stage then all the buds rotted off from excessive rain. I
suppose I should have known better and gone out there and removed all
the spathes to better prevent rot. I fear this third stalk will never
make it to the blooming stage. I think it will get nipped by Jack Frost
but I will hope for the best.
Thank goodness there isn't more rebloom action in my garden at the
moment. When viewing my irises, I tend to zone out and experience
patches of missing time. Surely, my turkey would have burned up by now
had there been more rebloom to see...........
