Our club placed a sizable order from Iris Haven that arrived a few weeks
ago. I bought six and got three extras. Along with the iris came a
warning that they had been treated with strong pesticides, and handling
without gloves during the first two weeks was not advised.

They took ten days to get here (Heather had hoped for seven). Mine were
put in water within a day of arrival, and sat there for two days. They
were then planted in a depressed area that could be kept moist, in sandy
soil that had a LOT of alfalfa mixed in to add some absorbancy. All but
one of the iris lost their greenery within a few days. The first new
growth sprouted within a week (the iris had been planted deeper than
usual as partial protection against the heat and sun). By now, all but
three have sprouted anew, the most recent within just a few days, so I
am still optimistic about the rest.

Of course, even if three have died, I bought six and have six, so I will
be happy.
